4/25/09  Town Hall Meeting at the Elijah Muhammad Cultural Center 11am-1pm, to
discuss the Stimulus Package with invited activists, city council and community
representatives to share their understanding and regarding how we can take
advantage of, prepare for and acquire funding of the stimulus package. We will
also have guests from our own community who are specialists.

5/2/09 Tea Forte at the Elijah Muhammad Cultural Center—a brunch celebrating
and honoring women. Entertainment, poetry and storytelling at the Elijah
Muhammad Culture Center. See flyers for more details.

On behalf of the Parent Association of Mohammed Schools of Oakland and the staff of
New Africa Kitchen we thank you for participating in the “YES WE CAN” RECYCLE CAN
DRIVE.

The efforts you make toward this fund raising drive will not only support our environment
but grant needed money to the Mohammed Schools of Oakland. Please also invite
friends, relatives and neighbors to save there bottles, plastics and aluminum cans. Our
goal is high and we encourage you to get everyone involved. Please take the time to
review the attached information regarding the type of aluminum cans, bottles and plastics
that are recyclable. Additionally, listed below are instructions regarding the process and
when you should drop off your aluminum cans, bottles and plastics.

1.  You may pick up plastic bags (clear bags only) from the School Secretary’s office
Monday thru Friday, 9:00a.m.-3:00p.m

2.  You may have a minimum of 5 plastic bags per person

3.  According to California Department of Conservation, we can only recycle
Plastic bottles that are labeled CA CASH, CA CRV #1 or #2.

4.  Collection of cans bottles and glasses will be held on every third Saturday of each
month. The first collection is schedule, February 21, 2009, from 8:00a.m.-     3:00p.m.

5.  The collection site will be held in the backyard of the Elijah Mohammed Cultural
Center, across the street from the Masjid /School.

6.  All cans, bottles and plastics should be sorted and bagged separately, i.e., clear plastic
with clear, colored glass bottles separated from clear glass bottles, etc.

7.  Please remove all liquid from cans, bottles and plastics (dry if all possible before
bagging).

8.  If you should have questions regarding this process please contact Yolanda Shuaibe
at New Africa Kitchen on Friday or Sunday.
