FROM THE IMAM'S OFFICE
Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim

ASA, Dear Believers and Supporters,

Six months ago at the State of the Ummah Shuraa we explained the need for $100,000.00 to resolve pending
financial obligations for our work as an ummah before July.  Allah has blessed us to continue our work and we
have reduced our obligations by discontinuing the Radio Broadcast with the intention to create a digital
presence on the internet.  That transformation is underway.

Allah has blessed us to get the copier back online but other obligations remain and will continue if we intend  to
fulfil our Quranic mandate to build Ummah.  We have also, with some delays, been able to make school payroll
in the subsequent months.  The Strategic Master Planning group has been in place since that time and they
have been working diligiently, on a weekly basis, since the State of The Ummah Address to devise a plan that
will achieve those aims with your support.  Very soon those plans will be brought to you in Shuraa for your input.

The economic strain in California is severe and all of us are affected.  It is in times like these that faith and
commitment are the keys to our success.  I could quote a truckload of Qur'an and Hadith and commentary from
Imam Mohammed which would describe the reward and the beauty and the value of the type of generous acts
that our circumstances call for.  My hope is that you simply understand that what we are doing in this community
as Muslims is not something other than which we have an option or alternative.  WE CAN NOT STOP NOW!

Truly brothers and sisters if we fail to do what we are committed and commanded by Allah to do, what will we do?
And if we won't do it by Allah's command then who will we do it for?  What is the alternative to serving Allah  in
the manner that we are commanded?

I am the first to admit that money is not easy for us to come by but Allah is the possessor of everything.  This
time that we are living in, as with everything in life, is a trial.  To that extent, I hope you can understand, that it is
also a temporary illusion set up by Allah just to see what we will do.  I am convinced also that there are those
among us who have considerable wealth and who could give considerably more than you have and Allah knows
that. You I urge to not fail to recognize that he also gave that wealth to you as a trial to see what you will do
when you are asked to give it in his cause.  Never the less, remember whether we are in want or plenty, he can
change everything in the twinkling of an eye.

Brothers and Sisters remember Abraham when Allah commanded him to sacrifice his son.  Allah didn't need
Ishmael as a sacrifice. All Allah wanted to know from Abraham was "Are you (Abraham) willing to sacrifice what
you love in love and obedience to me".  As Allah says in 16: 120 "Abraham was an Ummah ".  So Abraham is
only a model of us and for us and we are being asked the same question; "Are you willing to sacrifice what you
love in love and obedience to me (Allah)".  By Allah, I say to you this question is going to return to us in the
Judgment.  We will be asked "When this appeal was made to you in my name what did you do?" Those special
ones among you who did make pledges have been exemplary in maintaining those pledges and your reward is
sure.

The immediate and urgent need is that you support our School.  I could tearfully lay out to you the great
sacrifices that continue to be made by our school staff to maintain our collective obligation to perpetuate our
ethnic and Islamic values through independent education.  However, words could not express the delight that
awaits us for continuing to do so or the devastation that attends our not continuing to educate our own future;
our children.

As long as this message has been I am resisting the details.  I simply want to appeal to you, in the spirit of
appreciating all the sacrifices you have already made, to continue at this critical point to support the immediate
programs "The E of E Weekend" (June 8-10) and to make direct and immediate contributions to the School
payroll as there are no funds to pay the salaries of our dedicated school staff.

Are we willing to sacrifice what we love for the sake of Allah?  Always remember brothers and sisters everything
we have is from Allah and everything we have we owe to Allah.  All he asks of us is that we use some of it to
support his will in this world.

May Allah bless us with True Faith and True Unselfish Commitment.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
